Our Doctoral Research Program (Ph.D.)
The Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy, “Dottorato di ricerca”) is the highest university degree in Italy, aiming to provide the necessary knowledge, skills and research abilities to engage in top-quality research activities in universities, public institutions, or private bodies.
A Call for applications is launched to be selected for a Ph.D. Program at the University of Turin. Applicants must hold a Master’s Degree (or a foreign equivalent).
3 or 4 years are normally needed for the completion of a doctoral Program. Prior to writing their dissertation, Ph.D. candidates plan and design an original research project under academic supervision and with the approval of a doctoral guidance committee. Award of the Ph.D. is conditional upon a successful oral defense in front of an Examination Committee.
In compliance with the “Principles for Innovative Doctoral Training” promoted in 2011 by the European Commission, the University of Turin strives for excellence in scientific research, while enhancing a lively and inclusive intellectual community. Within this context that promotes interdisciplinarity, internationalization, and productive relations with firms and institutions, young researchers can rely for their training on the exchange and collaboration with senior colleagues.
